Editor's Notes
Greetings Dear Readers,
The August issue features overnight trains, optical illusions, moths flying too close to the light, and Van Gogh’s Starry Night twice, café conversations, burnt noodles and charred memories, chimeras, an armadillo, a Wizard of Oz reference, and a blue jay. I hope you enjoy this month’s omnibus issue of ten poems.
Thank you to the City of Ottawa for funding Bywords.ca once again this year. We couldn’t pay our contributors without this support. We are currently finalizing plans for the John Newlove Poetry Award which will take place on October 1, 2024, hosted once again by the Ottawa International Writers Festival. Stay tuned for more information and keep checking the events calendar.
I am currently working on an update to The Access Word Ottawa Guide to Accessible Literary, Spoken Word, Storytelling and Nonfiction Events. The update will be posted on Bywords.ca as a pdf in December, all being well. If you know of an accessible space that hosts such events, please let me know.
