Editor’s Notes

Greetings Dear Readers,

May’s contributors offer a kaleidoscope of senses: wood smoke, coloured pebbles, star nectar, rain, song and tricks of light. I hope you enjoy the issue.

May is Asian Heritage and South Asian Heritage Month in Ottawa. Celebrate by attending readings, and events happening through Ottawa’s Asian Heritage Society, including a poetry event on our calendar: celebrating Asian Joy with Talia Chung, Kimberly Quiogue Andrews and Jamie Chai Yun Liew. Also on our calendar, the Riverbed Reading Series’ third season opens with an event featuring Kimberly Quiogue Andrews, Grace Lau, Khashayar "Kess" Mohammadi, and Jack Hui Litster. Also on the calendar are the weekly CKCU FM radio shows, Asian Sounds and An Indian Morning, which feature music and interviews with writers.

The Ottawa Public Library has an excellent list that spotlights new poetry by Asian and Asian diasporic writers. Also for young readers, check out the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board’s picture book and chapter book recommendations. There are also some great films offered by the National Film Board of Canada.

Thanks to our selection committee this month:
