Editor’s Notes

Greetings dear readers,

This month's issue features the sound play of James K. Moran, the detail of Frances Boyle, Chris Johnson's lonely cat, the heritage of Yuan Changming, Cora Sirés condiments, and Daniel Cowper's review of Richard Sanger's 2017 Biblioasis Collection, Dark Woods. I hope you enjoy the issue.

The snow is finally gone (is it?) and tulips are in bloom(ish). Are you writing? Are you writing poems? Please consider submitting your poetry to Bywords.ca. Sometimes people don't realize that you don't have to be a current Ottawa resident, student or worker. If you used to live, work or study in the National Capital Region, you are welcome to submit poetry, just remember to include your connection to Ottawa if you don't have current address in the City. Guidelines are on the site. If you have any questions about the submission process, please feel free to e-mail me or contact me via our social media accounts.

After the bustle of National Poetry Month in April, May is relatively quiet for poetry in Ottawa, but there are still several can't miss events, such as the launch of Bywords-published poet, David Groulx's latest collection, From Turtle Island to Gaza, Urban Legend's Finals, the Tree Reading Series workshop, open mic and poetry feature of the month, John Barton, and to end the month, Write Bloody North's launch of books by Ian Keteku and Titilope Sonuga. Go to the events page on the site for details about poetry readings and other literary, spoken word, storytelling and nonfiction events this month and beyond.
