Editor’s Notes

Greetings dear readers,

While we wait patiently for spring to arrive, why not read the March issue of Bywords.ca? The four poets featured this month offer large and small moments of love, death, war and triumph over adversity. Yellow appears in more than one poem. Things flutter. Our review this month is Ronna Bloom's the More (Pedlar Press, 2017) by former Ottawa resident Laurie Anne Fuhr. I hope you enjoy the issue.

At the end of this month is one of the most important poetic happenings of the year in Ottawa: VERSeFest, our annual festival of poetry that brings together poets of varying styles from numerous places across the Globe. Whether you are an emerging or established poet, or simply a lover of words read and performed aloud, this festival is for you. Tickets and passes are available at VERSeFest.ca. The fun occurs from March 20 to 25.

Thanks to our selection committee this month:

Wes Babcock
Robert Martin Evans
Jason Lamantia
Margo Lapierre
Tanya Mead
Kemisha Newman
Jade Riordan
Leslie Smith
Carol A. Stephen
JC Sulzenko
Rob Thomas

If you have comments, questions, suggestions or a sighting of wee purple crocuses to offer, please e-mail me at amanda@bywords.ca or come talk to me at VERSeFest. I'll be the one camped out in the front seats with a thermos of tea, and a bag full of poetry books awaiting inscription by beloved poets.
