Editorial

Spring is almost here and so is our new Quarterly Journal. Not only is Bywords an online poetry magazine, but it is also a printed poetry publication that you can carry around with you on days when you don’t have access to the web. The BQJ will contain the best of Bywords.ca, favourite poems from the 20th Century Bywords Monthly Magazine, and new poems by poets who have been published in Bywords.ca. Stay tuned for copies of the spring issue to be released in April. The cost will be minimal, the joy will be maximal. Help us sell 100 copies of one issue so that we can be eligible for various grants next year!

We’re starting to get a good number of submissions for Bywords.ca. For the April issue, we’ve received over 30 poems. By mid March, the website has been accessed over 1300 times. It’s great to see former Ottawa residents from around the world submitting poetry. From Vienna to New Delhi to New Zealand, the word is getting out!

A special congratulations goes out to two of our Bywords.ca published poets: rob mclennan and Glenn Kletke who are shortlisted for the Archibald Lampman awards. A belated congratulations also to another of our poets, Mary Trafford, who won the 2002 Diana Brebner award.

Thank you to this month's selection committee: Steve Artelle and Erin Gouthro.
