Editor's Notes

Greetings Dear Readers,

Our first issue of 2025 features a fresh year and fresh sheets, magnolias, and a flock of chickens, desire, yearning, grief. I hope you enjoy the issue.

The new year always feels like an opportunity to turn over a new leaf, to start something new and to fulfill resolutions made over bubbly and Auld Lang Syne. For those who made resolutions to work on improving their poetry, you will find numerous writing group meetings at Ottawa Public Library branches on our calendar. If you have decided to share your work at open mics, check out the calendar for upcoming open mics. If you promised yourself you would submit to more literary journals, keep your eye out calls for submissions posted on the Bywords.ca News under Calls.
