Dawna Proudman

Dawna Proudman’s often intensely personal poems strive to create connections, eschewing fantasies of perfection in favour of celebrating our wonder-filled, if not always sweet or shiny, realities. She’s most gratified when readers tell her “I didn’t know anyone else felt that”. Her short stories and poems have appeared in various publications across Canada. Her collection of poems, Elements of Grace, was published by Brucedale Press. Her editing credits include two books for Brucedale Press: Strong in My Skin and Saugeen Stories. Co-founder and past Artistic Director of the Words Aloud Spoken Word Festival, Dawna has facilitated writing workshops since 1993. Born in Ottawa, she has lived in Dawson City, Toronto, Grey County, Barrie, and now celebrates life in Woodland Beach in Tiny, Ontario. Born and raised in Ottawa, Dawna attended Overbrook Public School, York Street Public School, Rideau High School and Carleton University. She visits family and friends in the region on a regular basis.
