Editor’s Notes

Happy August, Readers.

Hope you're enjoying your summer. This issue features the poetry of Jamie Bradley, Rob Friday and Ronald Seatter, all current Ottawa residents. In addition there are reports from Catharine Carroll about last month's Bywords reading and from Toby Brooks about recent tribute to deceased and well-loved poet, Pat Lowther.

August is typically a quieter time for readings and other literary activities, so it's a good time to get our energies back up in time for the invigorating autumn literary season. In the meantime, why not read some great poetry and fiction published or written by Ottawans: check out the Bywords on line store for chapbooks, zines, poetry books and more.

I'd like to welcome two new members of the selection committee: Gwendolyn Guth and Leigh Nash. Gwen was a founding member of Bywords Magazine, our predecessor. Leigh, a former Ottawa Valley resident, currently lives in Toronto where she is involved in the Scream Literary Festival. At the same time I'd like to temporarily, I hope, bid adieu to two of our selection committee members: Kemisha Newman and Marcus McCann.

Thanks to the selection committee this month:

Andrew Faulkner, Stéphanie Lafleur, and Pearl Pirie.
