following the words while sitting at this corner café

my pen can’t keep up
w/ the pace of this street
there’s far too much scenery to see
so many nouns doing so many verbs

safety abandoned to temporal waves
practical considerations
the words suffer, they are insufficient,
notations dying, de-compositions

Is there redemption in revisions?

a testimony to the miracles
in things rewritten, resurrections 

should I insist on the facts?
make sacrifices for “truth”
make small alterations, tell
lies to get to a “truer truth”? 

Or do I record just as it is?

I cross words out
attempt to hold to
a narrative thread
in this labyrinth of 
twisting lines

I wish to find a way out
but this piece resists closure
doesn’t believe things should
just
