Editor’s Notes

Dear Readers,

We're on the cusp of spring and a new enticing literary season. This month's contributors are Caleb J W Brasset, who was previously short listed for the John Newlove Poetry Award, and Christopher Neglia, a Carleton University student.

Your Bywords editing team has been working away at spring initiatives, including the spring issue of the Bywords Quarterly Journal to be launched in April and another secret project which will be launched next spring.

I hope you take advantage of the warming temperatures to attend some of the fine poetry readings taking place in the next month: Pearl Pirie reads at the Sasquatch Literary and Arts Performance Series; Shane Rhodes and Paul Tyler will be at the Factory Reading Series; the Dusty Owl celebrates five years at Swizzles; the Canal Mug Poetry Series launches its season with Ronnie R. Brown and Terry Ann Carter; London, Ontario poet Penn Kemp is the feature for April's A B Series reading; the Ottawa Arts Review launches a new issue…phew…and of course, April is National Poetry Month. Buy a few poetry books, zines or chapbooks and savour them in the early spring light.

Thanks to this month's selection committee:

Andrew Faulkner, Gwen Guth, Stéphanie Lafleur, Megan McGrath, Sean Moreland, Leigh Nash, and Pearl Pirie.

If you have questions, comments, a handful of purple tulips to send me, please e-mail me at editor@bywords.ca or stop and say hi when you see me at a reading or at a local café, pub, library, bus stop, grocery store, street corner.
