Latent Confession

In empty time I considered your skin brushing ablaze next to mine

My flesh a lily bruised by morning, soaked in dew as if unlocked in 

Your touch



It’s been a long time since I’ve had you.



In my mouth,

The words hurried past. I ran away, like you said I would. 

I saw the sky in your eyes and in me, you said you saw the great beyond 

“The great beyond,” you told me, as if in hope that we were

Getting away



Later I’d watch the brown hills roll past me

Though I’d remembered them green
