let the daylight...

c’mon and let that daylight dwindle
while the shade falls over the snow and patches of grass
like your arms falling over and onto his shoulders,
and the coffee pot is full and there is still a slice of toast in the
toaster because the morning is when he likes it
and he’d give any breakfast up for a little taste of you.
and it was his eyes, that first caught your eye,
then his shoes,
and you wanted to seems cool looking over but hoping he would notice and
look over too and make the first move
so you wouldn’t have too
and four vodka crans later you’re laughing,
talking about
something you read on pitchfork or what you do when you’re supposed to be working
and you’re not quite sure how it all started
you’re just glad it did.

the stars are always there,
we just have to wait until things get dark
to follow them,
so let that day light dwindle.
