Buddhist Pirith chanting
Saturday, the day among trees
among grasshoppers and mosquitoes
in a forest, the day when Plantagenet
dropped rain drops on my yellow raincoat
and the lilt of the blessings
of Buddhist Pirith chanting.
The barn with haystacks and cows
named Coco, Megan, Annika and Judy
and getting lost in Cheney, Ramsayville,
Edgar and Carlsbad Springs
while chasing the evening sun
and searching for the night's
Buddhist-binara moon and a green sign
with an arrow to Ottawa.
The evening that I wanted
to get lost in a sky of leaves
in my Tree House Metta
to rest my head on her lap
listening to the lullaby of her
heartbeat going insane charmed
by her beauty and getting intoxicated
by the symphony of bird songs of love
and the feel of the contours
of what is human and pretty in her
and wondering what joy
it would have been to be touched
by soft lips on a rainy forest day.
