Editor’s Notes

Greetings dear readers,

This month's issue features work by four poets. I hope you enjoy the poems. If you're a current or former Ottawa resident, student or worker, don't forget to send us poems for our next issue. Each issue comes out on the 15th of each month. See the guidelines on the site.

December tends to be a quieter month for literary events as we draw closer to the holiday season. There are still several series holding readings and slams, including the Factory Reading Series, the Sawdust Reading Series, Capital Slam, and the In/Words Reading Series.

You can also get your literary fix by tuning in to community radio, including CHUO FM's Click Here with Mitchell Caplan, John Akpata's Monday Night Scribes, CKCU's Friday Special Blend with Susan Johnson and Literary Landscapes with Pearl Pirie, Kate Hunt and Dave Currie. Please consult the Bywords.ca calendar of events for more information on these shows.

In your holiday purchases for family and friends this year, I hope you include poetry by local poets. The excellent blog, Apt613 has a feature on books and comics by local artists you might want to check out.

Also for your gift giving, please consider purchasing chapbooks and subscriptions offered by small presses in Ottawa, such as above/ground press and Apt. 9 press and a subscription to Ottawa-based Arc Poetry Magazine.

Thanks to our selection committee this month:

Beth Ann Hubbert
Jason Lamantia
Pamela Mosher
Kemisha Newman
Carol A. Stephen
